The renovation of the Northrop and Gillette houses created an opportunity to begin implementation of some of T|G’s Landscape Master Plan’s recommendations: installation of historic styled fencing along Elm Street to recapture the Olmstedian character of the campus and to unify a campus currently divided by a busy state route. The fence recalls this truly historic fence across the street while it adds more modern institutional sensibility with its granite piers and base. Its transparency enhances the visual cohesion of the campus landscape.
