2016 CT ASLA Awards: Phoenix Plaza Award of Excellence

Constructed in 1963, the Phoenix Building played a pivotal role in the city’s urban renewal movement. While respecting this historic building and it’s mid century aesthetic the main charge for T|G was to reduce paving, facilitate circulation, integrate with the scale of the building, while at the same time humanizing the scale at the level of the pedestrian implementing the City of Hartford’s first 39,000 square feet large scale green roof. The design jury commented, “Everything about this project is well thought out and executed. The before picture and the end result clearly show the level of detail and thought that went into this project. Well done!”
