The Corbin District

The mixed-use development in the heart of downtown Darien includes a variety of outdoor public spaces. Interconnected by the common use of New England coastal village materials yet each designed to  offer its own unique experience, the outdoor spaces ask to be discovered and explored.

At the heart of the downdown development the Village Square serves as the primary community space.
With a range of uses in mind, the Square can transform to host farmers’ markets, concerts,  and community festivals.

Alongside the Square, a shared pedestrian and vehicular road with flush curbs, special paving, and overhead string lights extend the pedestrian experience and draw visitors to the other corners of the downtown, including to Corbin Drive, envisioned as the new Main Street to downtown and Post Road. Animated with street trees, pedestrian lighting and seating, the streetscape continues the historical downtown aesthetic and unifies the varied facades of the buildings.
