Perrson Hall, Colgate University
Perrson Hall is a new core academic facility which links the two distinct components of the Colgate campus: the more formal, densely built upper quadrangles and the less formal arrangement of buildings and athletic facilities on the lower terrain.
Designed as a bridge, both physically and metaphorically, the building straddles the convergence of two historical paths leading up ‘Cardiac Hill’ . Towers|Golde inserted the building into the slope, subtly grading to protect existing contours and vegetation while simultaneously addressing the institution’s desire for more social space within and around academic facilities to encourage student and faculty interaction.
