South College, University of Massachusetts - Amherst

South College is one of the oldest signature heritage structures at UMass, and one that is now pivotally located in the historic core of the campus at the nexus of current pedestrian circulation. T|G’s landscape design recalls this historical context but also creates two new major campus quadrangles. Additionally, it fulfills the University’s Master Plan circulation goals and addresses several accessibility issues to meet current university standards.

This renovation/addition project to better serve the university's humanities program also accommodates the critical materials handling program for the adjacent library, a concept developed in T|G’s earlier central campus circulation study.
