Situated on a bucolic ‘gentleman’s farm’ in semi rural Connecticut, Silver Hill Hospital has long included its setting with its clinical work. As part of a long range, systems upgrade of its facilities, Towers|Golde assisted the Hospital with Campus Landscape Planning and site-specific plans for implementation. The central focus of the planning effort was on circulation and pedestrian safety, while preserving the landscape character of the ‘old estate’ as a unifying element for the campus.

A series of connecting paths provide therapeutic routes through the bucolic landscape, linking the various buildings and removing people from the drives. Paths curve under trees and through a wildflower meadow up to a rustic lawn terrace below the Main House. There is casual seating for small groups surrounded by natural boulders, flowering shrubs and evergreen groundcovers, all with a view of the meadow below.
