Beacon Hall, Central Courtyard, Campus Entry -
Housatonic Community College

The new classroom building at Housatonic Community College engages and completes the central quadrangle of this urban campus. T|G’s site designs animate and restructure this secured area to create a variety of gathering spaces and appropriately scaled exhibition areas for the College’s significant sculpture collection while simultaneously accommodating redirected pedestrian circulation patterns and emergency access.
Additionally, T|G’s expanded scope addressed not only the streetscapes around the building, but also along the block-long public access to a newly designed arrival courtyard which serves as the college’s front door, thus greatly enhancing the public identity of the institution and its civic role within the city.
