Davenport is one of Yale’s residential complexes which has been totally gutted and renovated as part of a 12 year program. The associated staging, scaffolding and utility excavations required the five courtyards and two street frontages to be completely rebuilt, as close as possible to their original conditions. Materials included traditional bluestone and brick paving, site lighting, teak benches and historic plants. Improvements involved grading changes and the addition of ramps to eliminate several barriers to accessibility.
