Charles Pratt Hall - Amherst College
The renovation and expansion of Charles Pratt Hall preserved one of the College’s most historic buildings, anchoring the main quad of the campus and adding to its vibrancy through its conversion to residential use. T|G’s design of site work included adaptations for new accessible basement entries for college-wide facilities made possible by change in grade across the site. The project also entailed redesign of plantings and surrounding vehicular pavings.
In a related expansion of the project, Towers|Golde restored the adjacent iconic War Memorial with its memorable framed views to the Mount Holyoke Range to the south. T|G also sited a new major class gift, a larger than life seated statue of Robert Frost.
