This historic
ten acre garden contains hundreds of rare, cultivated conifers
from around the world. These include a unique collection of rare
specimens which were originally planted in a beautiful oval design by
Marian Coffin and remain a centerpiece of the collection.
Towers|Golde designed the renovations, restoration and expansion of this historic
garden. Included are a new entry plaza which is based on an unrealized
plan by Coffin, as well as a half-mile tram route showcasing the
collection, new pedestrian paths, overlooks, pavilions, a dwarf conifer
display and a perimeter earthen berm with flowering shrubs to screen an
adjacent trafficway.
T|G continues to serve the garden as designers for the renovation of the 14 acre Azalea Gardens
and has developed the site work for the new laboratories, propagation
ranges and garage.
