‘The Machine in
the Garden’ was the seminal image of IBM’s new corporate headquarters.
Towers| Golde’s site design was pivotal to the successful realization of
the dynamic balance between the man-made and the natural extending the
aesthetic tension of building into the landscape. The progressive forms
of the building and its arrival court actively engage the preserved
organic forms of the steep and rocky terrain and its woodland mantle.
T|G’s skillful site design and grading protect the site’s sensitive
ecology and showcase its beauty. The project included a mile-long road
system, screened parking for 635 cars, and numerous storm water
management features.
