WORLD HEADQUARTERS
DURACELL CORPORATION
Bethel, Connecticut

The Duracell Headquarters project was conceived as an opportunity to demonstrate the company’s world-wide commitment to environmental issues and the
principles of sustainable design: the ecological impacts of development, energy conservation, and the use of recycled materials in both the site and the building were prime considerations in the design.

Towers|Golde was part of the team selected largely for its demonstrated site sensitivity. Working in close collaboration, the design team developed a building that ranged from two to four stories, expanding downward as the terrain dropped away. The parking garage was similarly designed, dropping from on-grade to 4-1/2 stories, absolutely minimizing the visual and environmental impact of 700 cars with a savings of approximately 9 acres of land coverage.
